Entrepreneurs and owners

Planning, insurance, and investments for the company.

This is the work we specialize in. Group benefits, company-owned insurance, key person, succession, and the investments that sit beside them.

Group health and retirement benefits

In this labour market, a plan is often how you keep a key person, a bookkeeper, or a crew. Group benefits help people cover what MCP doesn’t: prescriptions, dental, vision, specialists. Pair that with a group RRSP or TFSA and you have something honest to offer.

Jake builds plans that fit a shop of twelve as well as a company of seventy, including seasonal payrolls.

Corporate-owned life and key person

A shareholder dies, and the surviving partner is left with a grieving family and no cash to finish a buy-sell. A lead estimator is off work, and revenue drops while the bills don’t.

Company-owned life insurance, key-person coverage, and overhead protection are how those days are funded. Who owns the policy changes the tax. We’ll make sure that isn’t an afterthought.

Succession and exit

We sit with you, and with the accountant and lawyer you already trust, on who takes over, and on the insurance that funds the exit: a family transfer, a management buyout, or a sale.

We don’t replace your lawyer. We make sure the insurance can survive the closing, whether you’re handing it to a child or selling it, without gutting the company.

Questions owners actually ask

Yes. Small and seasonal shops are most of what we see. The plan has to match how you actually pay people. Jake will tell you what’s realistic at your size before anyone fills in an application.
